Last April 2, 2014, two (2) DepEd officials, namely: Dr. Ma. Teresa A. Namoro, OIC Chief-Secondary Education Division and Dr. Luz S. Almeda, Director for DepEd NCR conducted an on-site visit at SSC-R Manila campus to check the preparedness of the school for the opening of the Grades 11 and 12.

Last April 4, 2014, SSC-R Manila submitted to Dr. Ma. Teresa A. Namoro, OIC Chief-Secondary Education Division a compliance report of the deficiencies in the following areas: Career Pathways for TLE, Proposed Tuition Fee for the SHS program and K to 12 Student Development Program.

As of this time, OAPD will have conducted series of follow-ups to DepEd National and NCR for the release of the initial Permit to offer Grades 11 and 12.

Submission of Documents to DepEd for Grades 11 & 12 Application

Last August 27, 2013, the OAPD Director together with three staff (Registrar’s Liaison Officer, OAPD Staff and VP for Academic Affair’s staff) submitted the following documents to DepEd:

• Application for the Opening of Senior High School Programs (Grades 11 and 12)
• MOA with the different Local and International Linkages
• Syllabi for Grades 11 and 12 programs
• Proposed Curriculum for the New College Degree Programs (for AY 2016-2017)

Meeting with DepEd Officials

The Seven Administrators (VP for Academic Affairs, 3 College Deans, HS/GS Principals and Director of OAPD) had an audience with the officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) Head Office in Pasig City last July 5, 2013. Ms. Joyce Samaniego, Head of the Transition Management for K to 12 Program of DepEd, explained to the group the necessary requirements needed for the submission of application for the opening of Grades 11 and 12 in SSC-R Manila for AY 2014-2015.

Trainings and Seminars for K to 12

A series of trainings and seminars for faculty members (College, high school and grade school) were conducted in preparation for the opening of the senior high school program and as part of the transition management program of the school. The following seminars were handled by the HRDC and the K to 12 committee on faculty development program:

Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. After the visit of the CHED monitoring team last February 11, 2014, CHED issued an initial permit to offer BA in Journalism course.

Ph.D. in Theology. Last May 2014, CHED granted the permit to offer Ph.D. in Theology course.

Seminar on CMO No. 46, Series of 2012 on Policy Standard to enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in Philippine Higher Education Through Outcomes-based and Typology-based QA

Dr. Catherine Castañeda, CHED-NCR Director, was the invited speaker of the seminar on CMO 46 sponsored by SSC-R Manila last June 4, 2013. The participants of the said seminar were the School Administrators from SSC-R Manila, SSC-R Cavite and Augustinian Recollect Sisters.

The PAASCU Re-Survey Visit schedules were the following:

• Grade School – February 20-21, 2014
• High School – February 28- March 1, 2014

A Secretariat has been formed as part of the school’s preparation for the upcoming visit.
